Tumkur University, established in 2004, is one of the most renowned State University of Karnataka. It is a part of the Bangalore University established to provide education to the students coming from the district of Tumkur. The University is Deemed to be a 'B' grade University by the NAAC.

The University has 24 postgraduate and 19 undergraduate departments with 2 constituent colleges and 94 affiliated colleges. The University also offers PG Diploma and Ph.D. Courses.

Admission to all the programs is done on the basis of Merit. Entrance Exams and further Interview have to be given to take Admission in PG and Ph.D. Courses. The University also accepts GATE / JRF / SLET score for Ph.D. Admissions.

Tumkur University Admission Guidelines

Selection Criteria:
Under-Graduate Courses: For admission in these courses, the candidate must have 50% marks in the required subject in 12th class. Selection would be done on basis of the merit list.The candidates shortlisted based on their marks in 12th class are called to the university for the document verification process.
Post-Graduate Courses: The candidate seeking admission in post-Graduation must have a degree with 50% marks in Graduation in the relevant subject.The candidate has to appear for a written test conducted by the university for taking admission in postgraduate courses. PGCET Entrance Exam is conducted for MBA and MCA Courses. Exam is conducted for other Courses by the University itself. Shortlisted candidates are called for the next round which is the personal interview. The admission is done based on the overall performance of the Candidate.
Doctorate Courses: The Admissions in the Doctoral Degree are done based on Written Test and Personal Interview conducted by the University.The candidates seeking a doctorate from the University must have an PG Degree with 55% marks in the relevant subject.The University also accepts GATE/JRF/SLET score for Ph.D. admissions.
How to Apply?
Availability of Application form: Application form for UG Courses will be obtained through post by sending an envelope to Registrar of University.Application form for PG Courses except MBA & MCA will also be obtained through post by sending an envelope to Registrar of University. Application form for MBA & MCA will be available on the Official Website of University.
Where to send Application form:Filled Application form for UG Courses along with Required Documents and Application fees should be sent to UG Department at Tumkur University. For PG Courses except MBA and MCA, Form should be sent to Chairperson of Concerned PG Department at Tumkur University. For MBA, MCA, Application form should be sent to Nodal Officer-Consortium for PGCET 2020, Rani Channamma University Vidya Sangam, PBNH – 4, Belagavi – 591156.

Application fee

: Application fee of INR 250 (INR 125 for SC/ST) for UG Courses, INR 800(INR 400 for SC/ST) for MBA/MCA, INR 350 for PG Courses except MBA/MCA should be sent to Finance Officer of Tumkur University.

Library:The University has a library with vast collections of books.It has about 41397 Books and 36 Journals, E-journals - 7900+ in the University.
Network Operation Centre:It provides with network operation centres.University campus has 420 LAN points and 10 Wi-Fi devices. University’s existing network is decentralized and uses various routers and firewalls.
Remote Sensing Centre:The university is also looking forward to establishing a remote sensing centre on the campus in collaboration with ISRO.University has collaborated with Indian Space Research Organization to establish a remote sensing centre on the campus. With the launch of GIS and remote sensing, centre university has joined the elite league of institutions with the boast of facilities.
Automated Weather Station: It is the latest of its kind in the state. It was established in 2010 as an initiative of ISRO. It is an agricultural friendly venture in addition to addressing the research and education needs.
Publications:Lokajnana - It is a quarterly journal containing research papers in original and translated languages. International Journal of Science Research - IJSR is an international journal published quarterly reporting on a publication of research papers. International Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities - It is a bi-annual journal published by the university. The main objective of journals is to share knowledge related to political science, history, sociology, archaeology, geography, international studies, etc.
Hostel:The institution also provides with on-campus residential facilities for the students.

Tumkur University was established in 2004 and is situated in the state of Karnataka. It is a state University which is accredited by NAAC with 'B' Grade. The University has been successful in being recognized as an Institute of National Eminence by the UGC. Recently, the university has been rated as a 'Three Star' institution under the Karnataka State Universities Rating Framework (KSURF) released by the Karnataka State Higher Education Council, Bengaluru

Tumkur University offers a number of courses at the UG, PG and doctorate level. The University has 24 postgraduate departments, 19 undergraduate departments, 2 constituent colleges, and 94 Affiliated Colleges. 
It established 29 research centres to promote advanced multidisciplinary research and academic collaborations. Applications are released during the month of May for UG and doctorate courses, and the month of July for PG courses. Students can submit their application within three weeks after the notification.

The selection for the UG courses will be done on the basis of academic merit. The admission to PG courses will be based on the counselling process. For MBA and MCA, the admission will be given directly through KEA, Bengaluru. For all the Ph.D. courses, the candidates have to appear for the entrance examination and personal interview.
