Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936. It was formerly known as Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. TISS aims to be an institution of excellence in higher education that continually responds to changing social realities. TISS has its main campus situated in Mumbai along with three other campuses - TISS Hyderabad, TISS Guwahati, and TISS Tuljapur. TISS Mumbai comprises of two campuses- the Main Campus and the Malti and Jal A.D. Naoroji Campus Annexe — are both located in Deonar in the North-East Section of Greater Mumbai.

 

TISS Mumbai has been recognized by the University Grants Commission. TISS Mumbai has been accredited by NAAC. It is a Deemed to be University. Most of the TISS courses are offered at its main Mumbai campus which include PG and Research programme in various disciplines. TISS Mumbai is a host to 12 schools, 6 Independent centres, and 3 resource centres.

TISS Mumbai has concluded its 2022 placement drive. 100% of the HRM & LR batch got placed. The highest salary increased by 42.09%, average salary increased by 22% & median salary increased by 19% compared to the last year. 42 firms including 5 first-time recruiters visited the campus. Top recruiters included Accenture, Aditya Birla Group, Dell Technologies, TCS, Flipkart and many more. The placement highlights are mentioned below:

    • Tata Institute of Social Sciences is expected to start TISSNET Applications in the first week of December and the admission test will be conducted in 3rd Week of February. Apart from this, the college is accepting applications for admission to Post Gradaute Diploma in Healthcare Quality Management (PGDHQM) and Executive PG Dipoma in Hospital Administration (EPGDHA). The last date to register for both programs is December 31.

       

      TISS was established in 1936. Being one of the few institutes in India for Social Science courses, TISS Mumbai offers postgraduate and doctoral programs. Courses offered under PG and Doctoral level are MA, M.Sc, MPH, MHA, MLIS, LLM and PhD. & M.Phil respectively. Candidates who have completed their Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject are eligible to apply for the PG courses. Those candidates, who have completed Master's with valid marks can apply to doctoral programs.  All the admissions at TISS Mumbai are entrance-based. For PG courses, the entrance exam required is TISSNET (Tata Institute of Social Sciences National Entrance Test). 

      For the doctoral programs, the institute provided admissions based on the RAT examination. Application forms can be filled online on the website of TISS Mumbai.

    • TISS Mumbai PG Eligibility Criteria 

      • For MA/ M.Sc. in Urban Policy & Governance, Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Architecture/ Engineering/ Management/ Geography, Physical Science/ Planning/ Law or Social Science from a recognized University. They must have completed their internship on or before 8 June 2021. 
      • For MA,M.Sc., and M.L.Sc. programs, candidates must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree or its equivalent from a recognized University. The bridge course pattern should be 10+3+3 / 10+2+2+1 / 10+2+4.
      • For MPH and MHA programs, candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in any stream or 4-year Bachelor's degree in medicine or paramedical science, and other 4-year programs such as pharmacy, engineering, law, or veterinary science. 
      • For the LLM Programs, 50% marks in LL.B degree is required. 

      TISS Mumbai PG Selection Criteria 

      • The selection of PG programs at TISS Mumbai is based on marks obtained by the candidates in TISSNET. 
      • Selected students will qualify for the next round i.e. Pre-interview test and Personal interview round. 
      • On the basis of all rounds, college will release the Merit list for the final selection of students.

      • TISS Mumbai B.Ed + M.Ed. Eligibility Criteria  

        • For the integrated course, candidates must have a Master's degree (MA/M.Com/M.Sc) with 55%. 
        • In the case of ST/SC candidates, the minimum aggregate marks will be 50%. 

        TISS Mumbai B.Ed + M.Ed. Selection Criteria 

        • The selection of Integrated programs at TISS Mumbai is based on marks obtained by the candidates in TISSNET. 
        • Selected students will qualify for the next round i.e. Pre-interview test and Personal interview round. 
        • On the basis of all rounds, college will release the Merit list for the final selection of students.

        TISS Mumbai PhD and M.Phil Admission 2022

        TISS Mumbai offers PhD and M.Phil in different specializations. All the Ph.D. and M.Phil programs are full-time courses.
