National Law Institute University, Bhopal was established in 1997 by the Madhya Pradesh Government. The university has been recognised by UGC and BCI. The University offers UG, PG and Doctoral courses in law stream. Admissions to all courses is based on the CLAT entrance scores.
Admissions to the NLIU is through either CLAT scores or written tests conducted by the university itself. CLAT scores are needed for admissions in bachelor's and master's in Law. Students need to fulfill the respective eligibility criteria to take admission in the university. Students get admission on the basis of the final merit list released by the university. Admissions are online.
Students who apply for the admissions through an online portal must submit their respective Clat score for admissions in LLB and LLM.
For admissions to M.Sc and Ph.D, students should appear for an entrance test which is held by the university itself. After the merit list is announced, the students should submit their essential documents.
How to apply?
Students must visit the official website of the university for all the latest information about admission. Although due to Covid-19 the application forms are extended, the admission will start soon.
First apply for the course online and select the desired course and pay the respective application fee.
After that for admission in LLB and LLM, the student must submit their CLAT scores.
A merit list will be prepared for them and students will be required to take admission as directed.
For admissions to M.Sc and Ph.D, students need to appear for the entrance test conducted by the university and then a merit list is prepared.
After getting shortlisted, students will be expected to submit their relevant documents and pay the tuition fees.

As the institute is a hub for research, the faculties here are also equipped with Ph.D degrees. With more than 18 Ph.D degree holders teach there with full dedication. The university takes 100 undergraduates every year through CLAT (Common Law Admission Test). The students are supposed to complete a total of fifteen trimesters before they can be conferred a combined degree of B.A., LL.B (Hons). Each year is divided into a total of three trimesters each of seventy working days. Students are expected to attempt one paper in each course which is later followed by a meaningful thesis in the seminar courses.
NLIU Bhopal offers four courses at different levels. B.A. LL.B (Hons) is included at the undergraduate level and its duration is five years. LL.M and M.Sc. are offered at the postgraduate level and Ph.D. is included under the research level having a duration of two years each. The application form for the test can be obtained online from the official website of the university which would be followed by an offline submission of the relevant documents along with the fees and the application form.
Candidates must have passed the qualifying exam with a minimum of 45% in case the candidate belongs to the OBC/Unreserved/ SAP (Specially Abled Persons) category and 40% in case the candidate belongs to the SC or ST category. The candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in March or April are also eligible to apply for the entrance examination but must produce an evidence of passing the examination at the time of the admission. Failing to do so will result in being disqualified for the admission. The academic session for B.A.LL.B. would commence from July 01.
Out of the 68 seats available for the general category candidates, 26 are reserved for the candidates belonging to the Madhya Pradesh State Domicile. 2 seats are also reserved for candidates from Jammu & Kashmir. 30% seats are reserved for women and 3% for Persons with Disability. NRI students must be an NRI/OCI/POI card holder or be sponsored by a first or a second-degree relation who is an NRI/OCI/POI card holder.
The M.Sc. course is offered at the postgraduate level by the university. All the candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria can appear for the All India Written Entrance Test and Personal Interview.
The candidate must have scored an aggregate of 50% marks in the qualifying exam to be eligible for the entrance exam for Ph.D. The application forms can be obtained online from the official website of the university. Rs. 1,500 needs to be paid for the application and the fees must be paid through a demand draft that should be drawn in favor of the Director of the National Law Institute University, Bhopal. The eligible candidates for Ph.D. would be selected on the basis of a written test and an Interview that would be conducted by the University.

<p>The University offers postgraduate programs for LL.M. to all the candidates who are able to fulfill the prescribed eligibility criteria.</p> <p>Candidates must have passed the qualifying exam with a minimum of 55% marks in case the candidate belongs to OBC/Unreserved/SAP (Specially Abled Persons) category and 50% marks in case the candidate belongs to SC or ST category. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in March or April are also eligible to apply for the entrance examination but must provide an evidence of passing their qualifying examination in their respective Universities during the time of the admission. Failing to do so will result in being disqualified for the admission.</p> <p>The candidates belonging to the unreserved/OBC/SAP category have to submit an application fee of INR 4,000. The candidates belonging to the SC or ST category have to submit an application fee of INR 3,500 only. The amount can either be deposited through an e-Challan or Online. There might be some additional bank charges which may apply above the transactions. The application fee submitted is non-refundable in any situation.</p> <p>Candidates must apply for CLAT online only. CAPS is the interface through which candidates can do a maximum of their interactions. It is provided at the official website of CLAT. It is through CAPS that a candidate can check the current status of their application, know their results, download the examination admit card and can also download the score card and result. For applying a candidate must register oneself and then proceed to fill the application form. Scholarship
As you all know that the fees of the NL U's are very high it costs around 2.5 lakh per year for college and hostel only and if a student wants to study other courses and anything then it will cost more. the college provides merit cum means scholarship, OBC scholarship, and one more scholarship that is MP government scholarship for the medhavi students.
Each year fee including teaching and hostel fees for B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) students is Rs. 2.4 Lakh which amounts to approximately Rs.12.5 Lakh for five years. The fee increases by just Rs 5000 each year. The batch of 2021 that recently graduated secured 48 jobs in various law firms such as Khaitan, Trilegal, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Jyoti Sagar Associates, L&L Partners, Sharaf & Partners etc.
NLIU, Bhopal Scholarships
There are various Government scholarship schemes available for the students. Students from different backward classes can get reservations also with scholarships so they can continue their education without any problem. The government scholarships mainly cover tuition fees and provide a major relief to its students. Every year the Government of Madhya Pradesh releases the notification for the students to get the scholarship through an online process.

There are lots of facilities available for the students to make their life on campus exciting and memorable. The University has various societies and clubs which help the students to interact with each other and grow their personality.
With a sprawling area of 40 acres which is also eco-friendly. The environment around the campus is very quiet and soothing.
Hostel facilities are available for both girls and boys at low cost. These hostels are equipped with mess facilities and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Rajiv Gandhi Cyber centre is one of the most famous sites at the campus. This centre is a hub for research and education. Lots of students gather here for brainstorming and exchanging ideas.
The library which is also known as a Gyan Mandir contains thousands of books which the students can enjoy reading. It contains many journals, academic books, magazines, etc.
