IIT Dhanbad began as the Indian School of Mines (ISM) which was later converted into an IIT. IIT (ISM) Dhanbad is India’s 2nd highest-ranked university at 26 in the QS WUR By Subject (Mineral and Mining Engineering) Rankings 2022. IIT Dhanbad admission 2022 is currently ongoing for the B.Tech program. JEE Advanced 2022 result is out now; candidates can download their scorecard through the official website - jeeadv.ac.in. Those who have cleared the examination can register online and fill choices for JoSAA Counselling 2022 till September 21 on the official website - josaa.nic.in. The round-1 seat allocation will take place on September 23. Also, GATE 2023 registrations have started; the last date to apply for the same is September 30. IIT Dhanbad Scholarships
IIT Dhanbad offers more than 30 scholarships that can be availed in Merit-based, Need-based, annual assessment, for publishing technical papers and JRF. Indian School of Mines Alumni Association of North America (ISMAANA) provided more than INR 1.2 crore scholarships and INR 30 Lakhs+ by ISMAA. In addition, IIT Dhanbad also provides a complete fee waiver to OBC and General category students with family income below INR 6 LPA in Merit-cum-means Scholarship.

Peggy and Avinash Ahuja: ISMAANA award 10 students from each B.Tech Year with USD 1000. The list of students from each year is selected based on merit cum means (MCM) basis.
Pramod and Meera Thakur Trust (PMTT): ISMAANA offers a scholarship to one student from the Mining Engineering Branch with USD 1000 on an MCM basis.
Inder Mohan Thapar Research Award: Inder Mohan Thapar Foundation Trust, Karam Chand Thapar Group award a student from 6 departments i.e. Mining Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Environmental Science & Engineering, Fuel & Mineral Engineering, Applied Physics, and Humanities and Social Sciences. IIT Dhanbad B.Tech/Integrated M.Tech Admission: How to Apply?
All the eligible candidates have to first register at JoSSA to participate in the seat allocation process. Fill the choices and don't forget to lock your preferences. A total of six or seven rounds of JoSSA Counselling are conducted.
In each round candidates have to go through document verification and acceptance/withdrawal of seat. After the seat confirmation, a provisional allotment letter is to be downloaded along with the payment of seat acceptance fee for IIT Dhanbad admission.

The admission to IIT Dhanbad M.tech commences in the month of April-June every year. Total 29 specializations are offered in M.Tech.
IIT Dhanbad M.Tech Eligibility Criteria:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Mater's degree in Science with minimum 60% marks or CGPA 6.0.
SC/ST candidates must have a minimum 55% marks or CGPA 5.5.
Only Indian Nationals can apply.
Candidates having degrees recognized by professional bodies like Institution of Engineers (India), the Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Aeronautical Society of India, the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, the Indian Institute of Metals, etc. are not eligible to apply for IIT Dhanbad admission.

GATE Candidates: Final selection is based on GATE score and COAP Counselling process.

Candidates having valid GATE score have to apply on the admission portal of IIT Dhanbad website. After that registration at COAP portal is to be done to participate in the counselling process. There are 3 stages in the GATE COAP- Registration, Online seat allotment, and admission acceptance.

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad offers an array of scholarships and awards for its students to support them financially and lessen their expenditure. However, there are certain requirements for each scholarship at IIT Palakkad. Some of the popular scholarship schemes offered by the institute are mentioned below.
Merit Cum Means Scholarship:
No. of Scholarships: 25% of the students admitted.
Award: Exemption from the payment of tuition fees along with a pocket allowance of INR 800 per month.
Eligibility: The annual family income should not exceed INR 6 lakhs per annum.
Merit Cum Means Freeship:
No. of Scholarships: 10% of the students admitted.
Eligibility: A minimum of 60% marks is required for the students of the 1st year in the qualifying examinations and for renewal of scholarship a GPA of 6.00 in the previous 2 semesters is required.
