IISc Bangalore was set up in the year 1909 in Bangalore, Karnataka. Recently, IISC Bangalore has been ranked at 186th position in the QS World University Rankings 2022. Also, the institute has secured the 1st position in the NIRF University Rankings 2021 and the 2nd position in the NIRF Overall Rankings 2021. The institute is quite popular for offering its science and research-based program at UG, PG, and Research levels. One of the most opted programs at IISc Bangalore is B.Sc (Research) which is offered in the duration of 4 years and on the basis of the JEE Advanced or NEET-UG entrance scores.
Currently, the institute has 6 academic divisions and 45 academic departments. Apart from that, the college has around 13 departments under the director and 6 autonomous societies/centers. IISc Bangalore has an active placement cell that annually conducts recruitment drives for eligible meritorious students. During the 2022 summer internship placement drive at IISc Bangalore campus, the highest stipend offered was INR 1.15 Lakhs per month. IISc Bangalore has an active placement cell known as OCCaP or the Office of Career Counselling and Placement that conducts recruitment drives annually for final year students. IISc Bangalore Summer Internship Placements
IISc offers internship of 3 month to its students. Every year, the internship process generally starts in March. The institute successfully completed 2022 & 2021 summer internship placement drive. The highest stipend offered to the 2021-22 batch was INR 1.15 Lakhs per month. The 2020-21 batch received an averge stipend of INR 57 K per month.
IISc Bangalore Facilities
IISc Bangalore in itself is a self-contained campus that provides almost all required facilities in the premises itself. The list of facilities available is detailed below:
- Travel agencies: The college campus includes two tour and travels companies that provides domestic and international travel services
- Hostel: The campus has hostels with mess and other required facilities for outstation students and staff. There are boys, girls and guest rooms with total capacity of 3000 students
- Gymkhana: The campus has facilities for health and wellness including swimming pool, gymnasium, kung fu classes, badminton court etc.
- Health Center: IISc has a well-equipped health center that undertakes outpatient and inpatient services along with facilities of clinical lab, dental unit, operation theaters etc.
- Provision and General Stores: There are 2 provision stores that supplies daily essentials to students and staff
- Other facilities include tailoring shop, photocopy and DTP center, banks, eateries, amenities hall, auditoriums etc.
