It was established by an Act of Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Act No. XVI of 2002 and recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC). Students who wish to pursue bachelor courses must have completed their 10+2 studies in relevant subjects.
Students must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university with an aggregate of at least 50% marks to pursue B.Ed course.
For admission to postgraduate courses, candidates must have completed a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
For M.Phil and Ph.D courses, candidates must hold a Master’s degree in relevant discipline with an aggregate of at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in UGC 7 point scale from a recognized university.
Admission will be granted based on the combined merit of students in the Entrance Test and the qualifying examination in the ration 70:30.
Admission to MBA course will be granted based on score obtained in CMAT / CAT / MAT followed by GD-PI.
Admission to M.Phil and Ph.D courses will be granted based on performance in the Written Test conducted by the university, Presentation and Interview.
