All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is India’s best medical research institute situated in the capital city New Delhi. The institute is ranked 1st position by the NIRF 2021 rankings for the 4th consecutive year in the medical category. Currently, there are 15 AIIMS in India, situated in Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, Bhopal, etc. AIIMS Delhi is the first institute in the group to be established in the country under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and governance of the AIIMS Act, 1956.

 

The institute has collaborated with various foreign universities to expand the opportunities for joint research, student and faculty exchange programs. It has also signed an MoU with University College London to enable research collaborations and increase the number of academic and student exchange programs between the two institutions. 

 

 

At present, AIIMS Delhi is offering courses in 43 disciplines including UG, PG, Doctoral, and Super-Specialization courses in streams such as Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Biotechnology, and Paramedical. Amongst all, the most popular course at AIIMS Delhi is MBBS. The program contains a total of 125 seats, students applying for admission must clear the NEET-UG examination. The NEET Cutoff 2021 scores to appear for the counseling process in January 2022 is between 138-720 marks (as declared by the NTA). Also, AIIMS Delhi fee for the MBBS program is INR 1628 per year.

AIIMS Delhi provides internships to all students by selecting them for higher studies (UG TO PG). Thus Junior residents who pursue post-graduation courses get INR 64000 and senior residents who have completed their post-graduation get INR 74000 per month for a 3-year tenure. AIIMS Delhi has two patents on its name, one is ‘Sealbio: a novel non-obturation regenerative technique of endodontic treatment’ approved. Another patent on ‘Method for automatic detection of anatomical landmarks in volumetric data’ has been applied. In 2016, AIIM Delhi had established a Centre for Integrative Medicine and Research (CIMR) to build convergence of contemporary medicine with India’s ancient and traditional medical practices.

AIIMS has the first Indian and only Minimally Invasive Surgery Training Center, under collaboration with Germany.

AIIMS is the first Indian Institute to perform a successful Cardiac Transplant, the first in-vitro fertilization facility in the public sector. The AIIMS holds the reputation of being a pioneer in Stem Cell Injection. 

The AIIMS Delhi has a total number of 25 clinical departments including four Super Speciality centres. 

The AIIMS campuses are divided into East Campus, West Campus, JPNA Trauma Center, Masjid Moth Campus, and Ayurvigyan Campus.

In 2017, AIIMS Delhi has set up an Innovation Facilitation Division for accommodating AIIMS faculty and scientists as incubatees.

AIIMS Delhi has signed MoU with other incubators to invite the startups for commercial ventures.

AIIMS Delhi is ranked at 1st position in the medical category and 8th position in the overall category by NIRF Rankings 2021.

AIIMS Delhi is ranked at 1st position for the third consecutive year by India Today in the medical category.

AIIMS Delhi ranked at 783 in the overall category by US News 2021.

AIIMS Delhi is ahead of Oxford and Cambridge for the best medical schools in the world. According to the CEOWORLD magazine, AIIMS Delhi secured the 23rd position with a score of 86.38

According to the surveys of QS WUR 2020 , The AIIMS Delhi has ranked 231st position in the category of life sciences and medicine in the world.

 The AIIMS Delhi was ranked 1st in India by India Today and Outlook India in the year 2020.

 

The AIIMS has gained a reputation of being in the world’s best 100 hospitals according to the Newsweek Surveys.

AIIMS Delhi Placements

At present, AIIMS Delhi does not offer direct placements in companies as the institute focuses on preparing students for higher studies. AIIMS Delhi provides paid internships to all UG and PG students in its hospital and other government hospitals. 

 

Students are offered a stipend amount of INR 17,900 per month under the internship programs (UG & PG only) by the AIIMS Delhi.

Thus Junior residents who pursue post-graduation courses get 64000 rupees and senior residents who have completed their post-graduation get INR 74000 per month for a 3-year tenure.

The institute also mandates a 1-year paid internship for MBBS graduates.

AIIMS Delhi Scholarships

AIIMS offers Merit Cum Need-based scholarships for financial support to undergraduate students of the university, 

The fees are so low that anyone can afford it but even then scholarships are provided to the Nursing and MBBS Students. 

Stipend is also provided to students while studying and practising in the same hospital.

Library: AIIMS has a very well equipped and furnished library In the area of 27000 square feet which contains more than 61,000 books, more than 53,000 Journals and more than 14,000 reports.

Hospital and medical facility: There are medical facilities available such as cancer hospital, Trauma centre, speciality parent care with 464 beds and Centre for community medicine which offers services to more than 84000 people and contains 50 beds.

 

Laboratories: There are well equipped Laboratories in different campuses of AIIMS Delhi such as Electroencephalography services, diagnostic Audiomentry Services etc.
