Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla is one of the renowned universities in India. HPU is accredited Grade A by NAAC & is UGC approved. It was also ranked by the NIRF in the University Rank-band (151-200) for three consecutive years, i.e., 2020, 2019, and 2018. HPU offers several courses at UG, PG and Doctoral levels. HPU B.Ed is one of the popular course of the university. For admission to the B.Ed course students are required to appear in HPU B.Ed exam. Admission to most of the courses at HPU are based on the entrance exams. Merit-based admission is also available for a few courses such as HPU BA course or HPU MTA course.

The placement records of HPU B.Tech are great. Many top companies Paytm, L&T, Sapient, ORACLE offer job opportunities to the aspirant. Apart from this the university provides scholarships to the meritorious and economically weaker students. Before clicking on the program please click on the instructions for filling online application form, a pdf file will be open kindly read it carefully.
Click on the program name for which you are willing to apply.
After clicking on the program a pop-up will open terms and conditions.
Kindly check the terms and conditions. After that, you will be redirected to the personal information page.
An online Admission form has the following subsequent information

HPU Placements

The placement records of HPU are quite noticeable, students get job opportunities from top-notch companies. Over the past years, the university holds a great recruitment record and behind this, there is the placement cell & team of the university that works efficiently with the companies and students. The MNC’s have been visiting the campus for placements and to impart training to the students. The on-campus interview sessions are conducted by the organizations based on the requirements of their respective firms. A majority of the students of HPU get placed each year.

HPU Scholarships

Himachal Pradesh University has a number of scholarships available for students. These are provided by both the State Government and Central Government. Below mentioned are the scholarships provided by the University:

Students Aid Fund: This scholarship is given to the poor students belonging to IRDP/BPL/Low-Income families enabling such students to continue their higher education at the university level.
Cultural Activists Scholarships: It is awarded to the 10 students who excel in academic and cultural activities in any of the departments of the University.
Sports Scholarship: This Scholarship is awarded to the 16 students for the outstanding sportsmen/women of the Teaching Departments.

HPU Facilities

Library: The library includes a total number of 2,11,685 books. The institute has a good collection of about 10000 books on Information Technology and allied areas. An amount of more than 3 lac Rs. has been spent to purchase the latest editions of quality books needed by the students. A good reading space has also been provided for the students. Library also subscribes to about 20 computer magazines/Journals besides daily newspapers. Institute Library has plans to create a special section of e-books, CD-ROM, and other resource material to provide a resource bank of share wares and other learning material. Students also have access to the Main Library of the University.
Hostel: HPU provides accommodation facilities and it has 14 hostels, 4 for boys and 10 for girls. There are accommodations for approximately 1058 girls and 589 boys students. All hostels have facilities including Mess, Internet connectivity through Wi-Fi and LAN, Common Room equipped with LED TV, current magazines, newspapers, and Indoor games. Guest House: The university has a guest house for the guest lecturers who come for the special sessions. The guest house has a total number of 27 suites. There is also a dormitory for the staff accompanying guests. The accommodation facilities include six persons.
Internet Connection: Both LAN and wifi facility is provided by the university. HPU has been provided a dedicated leased line of 10 Mbps bandwidth as part of UGC Infonet for higher education. University Institute of Information Technology is part of the Campus-Wide Optical Fibre Network on which internet facility is available.

Candidates applying to BDS and MBBS courses are required to qualify in NEET-UG.
B.Tech Regular and B.Tech (Lateral) admissions are based on the score in Entrance Test conducted by HPU and merit respectively.
Candidates applying to BBA, BCA, and BHM courses are required to have completed their 10 + 2 studies from a recognized board with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.
Seats will be allotted on the basis of merit. Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university is the minimum eligibility criteria for LL.B

For M.Tech in Computer Science, the candidate must pass in Master’s degree with minimum 55% marks or equivalent Grade point, in Mathematics / Physics / Electronics / MCA / Computer Science / Information Technology or 4-years Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology.
Seats to the LL.B course will be allotted on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance test conducted by the university, as well as performance in academics.
Candidates applying to the Master’s degree are required to have a Bachelor’s degree in the respective subject with minimum 50% marks. (45% marks for certain courses).
Admission to MTA, MA (all specializations except for English, Social Work and sociology) and Master’s Degree in Rural Development courses is entirely merit-based.
HPU conducts an Entrance Exam to offer admission in LL.M, M.Sc., MCA, M.Tech., MMC, MA (English, Social work, Sociology) and postgraduate diploma courses.
MBA seats will be allotted based on performance in HPUMAT followed by group discussion and personal interview rounds.
Candidates applying to M.Phil and Ph.D. courses require a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in the relevant field of study. Seats to the M.Phil and Ph.D. course will be allotted on the basis of performance in an entrance test conducted by HPU subject to availability of the course.

HPU M.Sc (Nursing) Admission 2022

HPU Shimla offers M.Sc (Nursing) in various specializations at the postgraduate level. Minimum eligibility is B.Sc (Nursing) or PB (Nursing) with at least one-year of work experience. Admission is offered on the basis of university-based entrance test.

M.Sc (Nursing) entrance test is a two-hour test with 150 MCQs of one mark each. There is no negative marking. Candidates have to secure at least 50% marks (40% for reserved categories) in the entrance test to secure admission in this program.

HPU M.Sc (Nursing) Application Process

Visit the official website of the university and fill the application form. Upload the scanned copy of desired documents and pay the application fee of INR 2500 (INR 1250 for reserved categories) through Credit/ Debit Card or through Net-Banking. HPU B.Tech Admission 2022

HPU offers admission to B.Tech program in Regular and Lateral Entry modes. 10+2 with 50% marks is the minimum eligibility criteria for B.Tech and Diploma or B.Sc with 60% marks is required for B.Tech (Lateral Entry). Admission is based on the entrance conducted by HPU Shimla.

Key Points:

A candidate should not be more than 22 years of age as on July 01.
Candidates seeking admission under Sponsored category under Lateral Entry mode must have at least five years of work experience in Government Organization or PSUs in the relevant field.
10% seats of the sanctioned intake are reserved for women, economically backward and PH candidates in the ratio of 2:3:1.

Details of B.Tech Entrance Test: The Entrance Test will consist of two papers, Paper I and Paper with 100 MCQs each. The test will be conducted at Chandigarh, Shimla, Delhi and Dharamshala only.

HPU UG Admission 2022

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) offers BDS, MBBS, BHM, BBA, BCA and LL.B courses at the undergraduate level.

To satisfy minimum eligibility criteria for applying to the BDS, MBBS, BHM, BBA and BCA courses, candidates are required to have completed their 10 + 2 studies from a recognized board of study, having obtained minimum 50% marks in the final examination. BDS and MBSS students are required to have completed their 10 + 2 studies from the science stream with Biology as a compulsory subject.

Applicants to the LL.B course are required to be holders of a Bachelor’s degree and to have obtained minimum 50% marks in the qualifying degree examination.

Seats to the BDS and MBBS courses will be allotted to the candidates who have taken up the NEET entrance examination and have scored satisfactory marks in the same. Seats to the BHM, BBA and BCA courses will be allotted purely on the basis of merit list, which will be drawn up based on candidates’ performance in their previous academics. LL.B course seats will be allotted based on candidates’ performance in an entrance test which will be conducted by HPU Shimla.

HPU PG Admission 2022: MBA, LL.M, MCA, M.Tech

HPU offers MBA, MTA (Masters of Tourism Administration), MRD (Masters in Rural Development), LL.M, M. Com, MCA, M. Tech, MMC (Masters of Mass Communication) and PGDMC (Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication) courses at the postgraduate level, among other courses.

To apply to the various post graduate courses at HPU Shimla, candidate must be holders of a Bachelor’s degree from a relevant field of study. Candidates applying to the MTA, MRD and MDS courses are required to have obtained minimum 45% marks in the qualifying degree examination to be eligible to apply for these courses.

Candidates applying to the MBA, LL.M, MCA, M.Com., MMC and PGDMC courses are required to have obtained minimum 50% marks in the qualifying degree examination to be eligible to apply. Applicants to the M.Tech course are required to have obtained minimum 55% marks in the qualifying degree examination to be eligible to apply for this course.

Seats to the M. Com., MTA, MDS and MRD courses will be allotted purely on the basis of a merit list, which will be drawn up based on candidates’ performance in previous academics. Seats to the LL.M, MCA, M.Tech, MMC and PGDMC courses will be allotted based on candidates' performance in an entrance test conducted by HPU. Candidates who have qualified GATE / NET / SLET in Computer Science or engineering will be given 20% extra marks, in addition to the marks obtained in the entrance test for M.Tech conducted by the college.

Himachal Pradesh University offers the MA and M.Sc. courses at the postgraduate level. The MA course is offered under 15 specializations and the M.Sc. degree is offered under 6 specializations.

Candidates who are holders of a Bachelor’s degree, from a recognized university, under a relevant stream are eligible to apply for the respective MA or M.Sc. courses at HPU.

The application form for the respective course will get displayed on the screen.
Select the course name and fill the relevant information.
After filling all the required information, click on “Save” button and you will get the unique Registration number along with the password.

After the payment is successfully made, click on “submit application form”.
