VTU is a collegiate public university in Karnataka. A constituent college, 17 autonomous colleges, 13 quality improvement programs & a total number of 219 affiliated colleges are under its affiliation. The university offers different courses to more than 80,000 students every year. VTU offers these courses with multiple specializations particularly in the fields of Technology and Engineering. VTU has been ranked 101 in the overall category and 57 for B.Tech by NIRF 2021. Besides this, VTU has also been approved by AICTE & UGC.
The flagship program of VTU is B.Tech. which is offered with 23 specializations. Admission to the B.Tech course is granted based on scores achieved by the students in the JEE Main/KMAT examination. Besides B.Tech., the university offers various other popular courses such as M.Tech, MBA, and MCA for which VTU has appointed a highly experienced faculty of academic staff members.
VTU provides admissions to the candidates in UG, PG Courses based on different criteria. For UG courses, the candidates are required to qualify for national level entrance examinations such as KMAT whereas, for PG Courses M.Tech and M.Arch, the candidates are required to qualify GATE & PGCET respectively with merit scores. VTU Placements
The Centralised placement cell of VTU provides a career and placement program in which 120+ hours of free employability training is provided with the opportunity of placement assistance in association with Designation Technologies. Many top-notch companies from different sectors are visiting the campus every year to recruit students and more than 60% of the strength is placed in every batch. The highest package offered is INR 18 LPA, while the lowest package stood at INR 3.25 LPA.
VTU Scholarships
The VTU provides financial assistance to the students in the form of scholarships and fellowships so that they can continue their studies without facing any financial hurdles in their way. Mentioned below are the scholarships offered by the VTU:
Pre Matric and post-matric Scholarships are offered to the students pursuing higher education from class 11th to PhD studying in Government or private colleges, pursuing technical courses in Polytechnic, Vocational Courses in Industrial training institutes.
The departments which sponsor these scholarships are Social Welfare Department, Backward Class Welfare Department, Tribal Welfare Department, Minorities Welfare Department, Technical Education Department, Medical Education Department.

VTU Facilities
Library: VTU has a well-maintained and updated library with a rich collection of almost 10,000 books and 43,000 journals on various subjects and important topics. Besides this, VTU also has a separate facility of a reading room with a seating capacity for 240 students.
Laboratory: The VTU has developed various laboratories with all the latest and updated equipment for various purposes. These instruments include Spray, Pyrolysis, TG DTA, Dip Coating Unit, X-ray Diffractometer, Atomic Force Microscope Spin Coating Unit etc.
Cafeteria: The VTU is also known for having a well-furnished cafeteria which is used for serving exotic and delicious meals to the students and teaching and non-teaching staff as well. The Cafeteria is also recognised for maintaining world-class cleanliness and hygiene.
Sports: VTU has established a well-maintained mechanism of indoor and outdoor games with a spacious gallery for 500 spectators. These games include snooker, chess, tennis, badminton, cricket, volleyball and basketball.
VTU offers around 23 UG, 67 PG & 16 Doctoral programmes in a handful of specialisations. At UG domain the institute provides courses like B.Tech, B,Tech (Lateral), B.Plan & B.Arch in multiple specializations. Admissions to the UG courses are done on the basis of scores in JEE Main, KCET, and NATA respectively.
For the PG curriculum, the institute has a number of courses to offer such as M.Tech, M.Arch, MBA, MCA & MCA (Lateral). All the courses are professional-based courses and offered in diverse disciplines. Admissions to the PG course are based on national level entrance exam scores such as GATE, KMAT, NATA, PGCET, MAT, CAT, and several others.
In the Doctoral domain, Ph.D. courses are offered in numerous specializations. It is required that a student should pass their master's in the related subject with 55% marks in aggregate from a recognized university. The institute itself conducts an entrance exam for the admission of a research-based program. Applicants need to appear in this aptitude test to be selected.
Together with all these courses, the institute offers PG Diploma in Healthcare Management (PGDHCM) for the duration of 1-year. To apply for this course Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree. Admission is offered on the basis of merit secured in the previous qualifying exam.
