University Of Petroleum And Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun was established in the year 2003 through the UPES Act, 2003 of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand. The university is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). UPES Dehradun Course Eligibility
UPES Engineering
The institute offers several specializations in B.Tech and B.Tech (Hons.). Additionally, the university also offers an M.Tech program at the PG level.
Eligibility:
The minimum eligibility to apply for the engineering program at UG level is 10+2 with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in PCM, subject to qualifying JEE Mains or UPESEAT followed by Centralized Counseling.
Whereas, at the PG level the minimum eligibility to apply is a B.Tech/ B.E in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks followed by Screening of Application and Personal Interview.
UPES MBA
In the department of Management, the university offers an MBA in the discipline of Media and Entertainment & Events, Public Relations and Corporate Communication
Eligibility:
Minimum Eligibility to apply for the MBA program is 50% aggregate marks in Graduation.
Valid qualified scores of UPESMET/ National Level Test along with Group Discussion + Personal Interview.
UPES Design
UPES offers the B.Des. program at the UG level and M.Des. program at the PG level.Eligibility:Candidates applying to the B.Des. program must pass 10+2 with minimum 50% marks (in any stream) along with valid scores in UPES-DAT followed by presentation of Portfolio and Interview.
For those applying to the M.Des. program, Graduation with a minimum of 50% marks is mandatory along with valid scores in UPES-DAT/ CEED followed by presentation of Portfolio and Interview.

UPES Dehradun Admission Process 2022
The following are the steps to apply for UG and PG courses offered by UPES.
Step 1: Visit the official website of the university.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Apply Online’ and select your resident status.
Step 3: Fill all the details and click on ‘Submit’.
Step 4: After form submission, you will receive an email from UPES to verify your email address and to create an account on the website of the university.
Step 5: Log in to the website and fill out the application form.
Step 6: Click on ‘Submit’ and pay an application fee of INR 1,350 (US$ 75 for Foreign Residents) via online mode (Debit/ Credit Card/ Net Transfer).
University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) offers full-time UG courses such as B.Com, B.Sc, B.Tech, BCA, BBA, BA, B.Des, and 2 Year LLB. On the postgraduate level, the University offers M.Tech, MBA, MA (Eco.), M.Des, M.Plan, and LL.M programs. Full-time and part-time Ph.D.programs are also offered at the University.
- For UG Design admissions, the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of UPESDAT and for the PG Design admissions, the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of UPESDAT/ CEED.
- UPES Dehradun 2021 admissions will be based on the following exams:
- Integrated LLB- ULSAT, Common Law Admission Test and LSAT-India
- B.Tech LLB- UPESEAT
- UPES Admission Criteria is divided into two categories: examination pathway and non-examination pathway. For the examination pathway, admission is given through entrance exams conducted by UPES while for the non-examination pathway, admission is done on a merit basis or score in national level entrance exams. UPES application form can be filled in both online as well as an offline mode on payment of INR 1350 as the application fee.
- Aspirants can apply online through the official website or by purchasing the application form from the admission centers.
- UPES admission to B.Tech is done on the basis of performance in UPESEAT followed by central counseling.
- B.Tech-LLB (Hons.) integrated course admission is also based on the UPESEAT score.
- Candidates can also apply on the basis of a valid score in JEE Main in the non-examination category.
- B.Des admissions are done on the basis of the UPES DAT score followed by Portfolio Presentation and Interview. JEE Main/ UCEED/ NATA score holders are also eligible to apply.
- The selection of integrated LL.B courses is based on the score of ULSAT. Candidates can also apply on the basis of CLAT/ LSAT score in the non-examination category.
- UPES admission to BA courses is based on counseling interviews whereas BBA admission is done through Group discussion followed by Interview.
- M.Tech admissions are done by screening the applications followed by an interview.
- Candidates must qualify in UPESMET for admission in MBA, although valid CAT/ MAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ NMAT/ GMAT scores are also accepted. Interested candidates need to note that registration for NMAT and XAT has started and will end on November 10 and November 30 respectively .
- UPES admission to M.Des is based on the valid score of CEED or UPES DAT followed by Presentation and Interview.
- Admission to MA (Economics) is granted on the basis of candidates’ scores in the UPES online Economics Entrance Exam (UPESEEE) followed by an interview.
- Ph.D. admission is based on the Research Aptitude Test (RET) conducted by UPES.
- Direct admission scholarship is offered in B.Tech/BBA and LLB courses for students who are Uttarakhand Residents and secure rank up to 150 (for boys) and 50 (for girls) in UK State board exams.
- This university also imparts education through distance learning.
- At present, UPES is inviting applications for B.Tech. B.Pharm and LLB courses. Candidates can apply for B.Tech and BPharm based on class 12th marks or JEE score while students can apply for LLB based on class 12th or CLAT/LSAT score. The last date to apply for these courses is September 17, 2021
