IIIT Hyderabad is the first private deemed university established under Not-for-Profit Public-Private Partnership (N-PPP). The institute stands at 54 in NIRF rankings for engineering category. IIIT Hyderabad is widely known for its popular coding culture and computer science. Publications in CS related fields makes the institute one of India's top research universities. The institute is quite popular for the BTech program specialized in AI and CSE. Students who wish to enroll in the BTech program need to acquire a rank under 1000 in the JEE Main exam. IIIT Hyderabad BTech program offers a total of 140 seats. Out of which, 120 seats are reserved for students applying through the JEE Main exam and 20 seats are reserved for students acquiring seats through SPEC mode. IIIT Hyderabad SPEC mode gives admission to students who apply without the JEE Main exam. The SPEC mode selection criteria include a computer based test and interview round. Other than the BTech program, IIIT Hyderabad also offers MTech, MS, PhD, and Dual Degree programs. Admission to these courses is made on institute-based entrance exams. 

The institute conducts UGEE for Dual Degree admissions, PGEE for MTech, MS, and PhD admissions. IIIT Hyderabad also offers lateral entry admissions to students through LEEE examinatinon. The applications for LEEE and PGEE 2022 examinations are currently open. Candidates can fill the application forms till April 3, 2022. The examinations will be held on April 16, 2022.

Also, IIIT Hyderabad offers excellent placement opportunities to its students. In the recent placement drive of 2021, the institute recorded 100% placements for its B.Tech batch. The highest package offered was INR 56 LPA, while the lowest package was INR 2 LPA. On an average students can expect a CTC of INR 25 LPA easily. The institute accepts admission to the program through JEE Main, DASA, UGEE, and SPEC modes. In addition to this, IIIT Hyderabad has also provisioned lateral entry admission and dual-degree conversion. The BTech students can convert their single degree into a dual degree program by opting for MS By Research program.

      • Dr. Ashok Kumar Das has been selected as an Advisory Board member of the 3rd International Congress on Blockchain and Applications (BLOCKCHAIN ’21) to be held in Salamanca, Spain from 6 – 8 October.
      • Dr. Indranil Chakrabarty has been appointed as a member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Quantum Information Science (JQIS).
      • The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) has appointed Prof. P Krishna Reddy as member of an Expert Committee for Evaluation/Review of multilateral R&D proposals submitted under joint call between DBT and EUREKA in the area of Key Enabling Technologies for Healthcare, Agriculture and Water.
