IIT Ropar is among the eight young IITs ranked 68 as per “THE Asia University Rankings 2022”. IIT Ropar is conducting admissions for the academic year 2022-23. The institute will soon announce the list of shortlisted candidates along with the schedule of written tests/interviews. For BTech admissions, the JEE Advanced 2022 exam will be conducted on August 28. The opening and closing rank for IIT Ropar BTech is 1032 and 12187, respectively. IIT Ropar is calling for the applications for an Online Summer Internship Program- AIDOTHON 2022 from undergraduate engineering and medical sciences students. IIT Ropar is one of the new IITs established under ‘The Institutes Technology (Amendment) Act’. The institute is ranked 31 by the NIRF in the engineering category. The institute has 11 academic departments, 1 multidisciplinary centre, and 1 DST Technology Innovation Hub. Initially operating from its transit campus, IIT Ropar has now shifted to its permanent campus on Birla Seed Farms in Rupnagar. The permanent campus has an area of 525 acres and an architecture of Indus Valley Civilization. The campus has also been given a 5 star rating by the GRIHA for Green Buildings. IIT Ropar offers more than 30 courses in Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Out of these, the flagship program of the institute is BTech. IIT Ropar BTech requires a JEE Advanced rank of 1032-10426. The total intake for the program is 324 seats. Students acquiring a seat in the program do pay INR 9.44 Lacs for the 4 year BTech program. 

Second preferred program at IIT Ropar is the MTech. The program is specialized in 14 streams. Selection to the program is based on the GATE exam. IIT Ropar Course

IIT Ropar, through its 11 departments, offers a total of 4 programs at UG, PG, and research-level. Programs at IIT Ropar include BTech, MTech, MSc, and PhD degrees. IIT Ropar Online Courses 2022

Considering the in-demand trend of Data Science, IIT Ropar has launched 4-week online L2 and 12-week online L3 programs in Data Science. Both L2 and L3 programs are available for students who have passed their 10+2 with mathematics as the main subject. Additionally, IIT Ropar also offers a PG Certificate program in Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning. The PG certificate program is offered in complete virtual mode for the duration of 9 months. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree with 50% marks in aggregate and 2 years of work experience are eligible to apply for the PG Certificate program. IIT Ropar charges a fee of INR 2,50,000 excluding the GST charges for its PG Certificate program.

IIT Ropar BTech

With a total seat intake of 370, the institute offers a fully-residential BTech program. IIT Ropar BTech program has been ranked 19 in the NIRF engineering rankings 2021. The program is spanned over four years of duration consisting of 8 semesters. IIT Ropar is now the 1st IIT to offer a 6-month internship course to its BTech students. The institute provides a wide range of options in financial aid to its students. Several schemes are offered to IIT Ropar students through institute-based financial assistance, education loan schemes, and national scholarship portal (NSP). Mentioned below are some popular scholarship schemes offered by IIT Ropar.

Merit-cum-Means Scholarship: IIT Ropar offers MCM scholarships to its undergraduate students enrolled in BTech or BTech-MTech dual degree program. The criterion of MCM scholarship is based on JEE ranks of the students and their annual family income. However, the scholarship rewards the general category students with INR 1000 per month along with the exemption from the payment of tuition fees. 

Institute Free Studentship: IIT Ropar students whose annual family income is less than INR 4.5 lakhs are eligible for a free studentship. The selected students will be exempted from the paying tuition fee under this scheme. 

Scholarship provision for Students of SC/ST Category: This scheme is specifically offered to SC/ST students only whose annual family income is less than INR 4.5 lakhs. Students under this will receive the following benefits:

Exemption from paying tuition fees to all SC/ST students irrespective of their family income.

Scholarship for EWS Students: The EWS students whose annual family income is less than INR 1 lakh are awarded the full fee remission. While the EWS students whose annual family income is between INR 1-5 lakhs are eligible to get fee remission of 2/3rd of the tuition fee.

IIT Ropar B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

At least one of the conditions must be satisfied for IIT Ropar admission in B.Tech:

Candidates must have secured at least 75% aggregate in Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination. (65% for SC, ST and PwD candidates) Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are compulsory subjects in the Board examination.

OR

Candidates must be within the category-wise top 20 percentile in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) board examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

Candidates must be JEE Advanced qualified for both B.Tech and B.Tech+M.Tech admissions.

IIT Ropar B.Tech Selection Criteria

IIT Ropar admission in B.Tech is on the basis of +2 Board exams along with JEE Advanced score based on merit list prepared by the institute.

Students must also register themselves for JoSAA through which seats are allocated to eligible candidates.

Note: Female candidates from any category are eligible for 10 Percentile relaxation.

JEE Main Qualifying Cutoff 2021

B.Tech admissions in IITs is based on JEE Advanced exam scores. Candidates who secure minimum qualifying marks in the JEE Main examination are eligible to appear for the respected examination. The minimum qualifying marks for Unreserved category (General category) is set for 87.992241 and the maximum mark is 100. IIT Ropar B.Tech: How to Apply?

Students are required to submit applications online for JEE Advanced for admission to B.Tech and B.Tech+M.Tech. 

Admission to B.Tech and B.Tech+M.Tech programs is offered through JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority). Students who have appeared for JEE Advanced must keep the following points in mind while registering:

JEE Advanced qualified candidates can apply to all participating institutions.

Applicants can fill as many options while registering in the decreasing order.

In order to be considered for admission according to the given options, students must not forget to lock their choices. Once locked no changes can be made.

In total, there are 7 rounds for seat allocation where all institutions participate who are a part of it.

Once allotted for your desired branch, Candidates must pay the seat acceptance fee and get the documents verified at the reporting center for provisional seat acceptance. 

If you don’t get the desired option, then you can opt for either one of three choices:

Freeze-continue with the option that is alloted to you. 

Slide-accept the option but you want a better field in the same college. 

Float-accept the allotted seat you are looking for better field as well as college.

Finally, an acceptance fee must be paid for accepting the seat provisionally.

IIT Ropar M.Tech Eligibility Criteria

For M.Tech admissions, students must have a BE/ B.Tech Degree in a relevant discipline or AMIE with at least 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ST/ PwDs).

Also, candidates would be eligible if they are GATE qualified for admission in M.Tech program.

IIT Ropar M.Tech​ Selection Criteria

Admission selections depend upon scores in GATE and in bachelor’s degree. 

The candidates are evaluated 70% on GATE score and 30% on the basis of merit.

Only selected candidates are then called for PI for final shortlisting. 

IIT Ropar M.Tech: How to Apply?

Candidates have to first register at the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). After registering, note down the COAP Registration number carefully. It will be required while filling up the IIT Ropar application form.

GATE 2022 qualifying cutoff is the minimum mark required to register for the COAP 2022 counselling. IIT Ropar M.Sc Admission 2022

IIT Ropar offers a two-year M.Sc program in three specializations, namely, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The institute has a total intake of 71 students in each specialization of the M.Sc program. Admissions to the program are offered on the basis of scores obtained in the IIT JAM entrance examination followed by JAM counseling.

IIT Ropar M.Sc Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission to the M.Sc program at IIT Ropar, a candidate must fulfill the following requirements:

10+2 with mathematics as a compulsory subject.

Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university/institute with a minimum aggregate of 55% (for General/OBC-NCL category)/at least 50% aggregate marks (for SC/ST and PwD category).

A valid score in IIT JAM.

IIT Ropar M.Sc Selection Criteria

Selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of scores obtained in the IIT JAM examination. Candidates who qualify the entrance test will then be required to register for JAM counseling. Three rounds of the same will be conducted for admissions and selected candidates will then be required to accept their seats by paying the admission fee.

How to apply?

Candidates can apply for the entrance test only through the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS).

Candidates have to register by providing their name, a valid e-mail address, mobile number, and password.

An enrolment id will be sent to the candidate’s email and mobile number. These credentials are to be used by the candidate for all the exam-related information.

Candidates can log in and complete their examination form, upload the photographs, signature, and other documents.

Pay the application fees through electronic payment modes. The application fee for female (all categories), SC/ST/PWD students is- INR 750 (one test paper) and INR 1050 (two test papers). For other students, the application fee is – INR 1500 (one test paper) and INR 2100 (two test papers).

IIT Ropar Ph.D. Admissions 2022

IIT Ropar admission in Ph.D is offered in five modes- Regular, Direct, External and Part time. Candidates need to qualify GATE / CSIR NET/ UGC NET or DBT to be eligible for IIT Ropar Ph.D admission. 

IIT Ropar Eligibility Criteria

Regular mode ME/M.Tech with at least 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 out of 10 from recognized Institute or University. 

External mode ME/M.Tech with 60% marks and minimum 2 years of work experience in a relevant field.

Bachelors or Masters from IITs with a CGPA 8.0 and above on 10 point scale, are exempted from the requirement of GATE / JRF / UGC-NET.

IIT Ropar Ph.D Selection Criteria

Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the entrance exam and are called for an interview.
