Description
IIT Patna is one of the new IITs ranked 21 in the Top 25 Engineering colleges in India. PG and PhD admission for the session 2022-23 are open at IIT Patna. The list of shortlisted candidates for PhD interviews has been released. Selected candidates will have to appear for the online interviews scheduled from May 9-10. Admission to the BTech courses will be offered through JEE Advanced 2022 exam. The cutoff for the BTech program closes at 2732 for the CSE branch and at 14216 for other branches. Recently, IIT Patna signed MoU with Bihar Education Department for setting up science labs in schools.

Admissions into the B.Tech programme is based on the score of JEE Advanced which is followed by JoSAA Counselling. This is conducted for the process of seat allotment across different IITs. B.Tech admissions in IITs is based on JEE Advanced exam scores. Candidates who secure minimum qualifying marks in the JEE Main examination are eligible to appear for the respected examination. IIT Patna M.Tech Admission 2022
IIT Patna offers the two-year M.Tech program in eight specializations, namely, Mathematics & Computing, Nanoscience & Technology, Computer Science & Engineering, Mechatronics, Communication System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, and Materials Science and Engineering.
Admissions to the program are done through the GATE entrance examination followed by COAP counseling.
IIT Patna M.Tech Eligibility Criteria
B.E/B.Tech degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university.
Students must have at least 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.0 on a 10 point scale in graduation (For SC/ ST 55% marks).
A valid GATE score.
Note: Candidates who have completed B.Tech from IITs with a CGPA of 8.0 and above are exempted from submitting the GATE scores.
IIT Patna M.Tech Selection Criteria
Candidates will be shortlisted for the M.Tech program on the basis of their GATE score. Then, there will be an interview round conducted by the institute. For the final merit list for admissions, 70% weightage will be given to the GATE scores and 30% to the interview.

IIT Patna offers the two-year M.Sc program in three specializations, namely, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with each having a total intake of 25 students. For admission to the program, candidates need to appear for the IIT JAM entrance exam.
IIT Patna M.Sc Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for admission, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 55% aggregation marks.

Scholarship
IIT Patna Scholarship
The IIT Patna students can avail themselves of the facility of financial assistance or scholarships to manage their academic expenses. A variety of financial aid options from institute scheme scholarships, central scheme scholarships, and other schemes. Some of the most popular scholarships available to IIT Patna students are listed below.
- Merit-cum-Means Scholarships for UG and MSc Students: IIT Patna offers MCM scholarships to meritorious and needy students. To become eligible for this scheme, students need to have a minimum of 6.5 SPI in their first semester with no F-grade. Also, the annual parental income of the applicants must be less than INR 4.5 lakhs. However, the benefits of MCM scholarships are as follows:
- For Gen/OBC Students: Free tuition fee along wth INR 1,000 per month for two semesters.
- For SC/ST Students: Free messes, exempt from hostel room rent along with a monthly pocket allowance of INR 250.
- Top Class Scheme for SC Students: Funded by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the scholarship is specifically designed for UG students of the SC category. A total of total scholarships is allotted to IIT Patna for the students whose annual family income is less than INR 6 Lakhs and is not the third sibling of the family. Following mentioned below are the benefits of this scheme.
- Full tuition fee
- Living expenses up to INR 2,200 per month per student
- Books and Stationery allowance up to INR 3,000 per annum per student
- Computer/laptop worth INR 45,000
- Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for RPF/RPSF: The scholarship is offered to the UG students by the Ministry of Railways. Interested students must have secured 60% and above in their 12th/diploma/graduation to become eligible for this scheme. This scheme, however, awards INR 2000 pm to male students and INR 2500 pm to female students.
- Post-matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilites: IIT Patna offers scholarships for UG and PG students with disabilities. Students with 40% disabilities whose annual family income is less than INR 2.5 lakhs are eligible for this scheme. However, the following benefits are offered to the SwDs in this scheme:
- Maintenance allowance up to INR 1,600 for hosteller in Engineering Courses
- Disability allowance of INR 4,000 PA for visually impaired & intellectual disabilities and INR 2,000 PA for hearing impaired, physically disabled, and other types of disability.
- Reimbursement of tuition fees and non-refundable fees etc.
- Book allowance of INR 1,500 PA.
