IIT Hyderabad is a second generation IIT ranked 8 in the Engineering category by the NIRF. The institute has over 2600 students, 220 faculty members, and 40 patents filed. IIT Hyderabad is among the few IITs that have been sanctioned Research park by the Govt of India. IIT Hyderabad Research Park provides the infrastructure and facilities to industry partners for research and technology developments. The institute has 110 on-campus laboratories, out which, 50 are exclusively for research projects. IIT Hyderabad offers more than 50 programs in both full-time and part-time modes through its 17 academic departments. The core fields of education and research are Engineering, Sciences, Liberal Arts, Design, and Management.

IIT Hyderabad’s academic programs include 11 BTech, 1 BDes, 3 MSc, 18 MTech, 1 MDes, 1 MA, and 15 PhD programs. The flagship program of IIT Hyderabad is BTech. Admission to the program requires a JEE Advanced rank of 191-5408. Students qualifying for the IIT Hyderabad Cutoff get admission to the BTech program through JoSAA counselling. The total intake capacity of the program is 470 seats. IIT Hyderabad fees for each semester are INR 1,48,000 for the Gen/ OBC/ EWS candidates. The per semester fee for the reserved category students is INR 48,000. Also, JEE Main 2022 registrations are now open. The last date to fill out the JEE Main 2022 application form is March 31, 2022. The JEE Main exam 2022 will be conducted in two sessions in two consecutive months i.e. April and May 2022. JEE Main 2022 Exam dates have been scheduled from April 21 – May 04, 2022 for Phase-I (April Session) and from May 24-29, 2022 for Phase-II (May Session).

The institute has partnerships with many national and international universities for student exchange programs. In its recent collaborations, IIT Hyderabad has signed an MoU with a Cancer and Research Hospital for a joint masters course. The two institutions will offer a Master’s degree on Medical and radiation physics. The total duration of the course is three years with two years of theory and one year of practical. IIT Hyderabad Campus 

IIT Hyderabad campus covers a total of 576 acres of land area. The campus is divided into blocks as the construction of the building was done in different phases. IIT Hyderabad campus has separate blocks for UG and PG programs. The housing facilities for students and faculty are also separate. No combined hostels for boys and girls, the hostel buildings are segregated for both the students. The infrastructure of the institute includes the following:

Spacious classrooms with modern amenities.

Library with 20,000 books and 10,000 periodicals, national and international journals, online subscriptions.

IITH Dining is common for students, staff, and faculty. The dining hall serves both north and south Indian varieties. The quality of food is inspected regularly by the student representatives and warderns.

Shiru Cafe at IITH is the first cafe introduced outside Japan. The cafe is popular amongst students and is manned by the Japanese student interns. The cafe also offers free beverages to IITH fraternity members.

The hostels at IIT Hyderabad accommodates one student in one room. The institute also allows students to stay outside the hostels, if they want. There is no mandate on living in hostels only.

IIT Hyderabad Courses 

IIT Hyderabad offers BTech, MTech, BDes, MDes, and PhD through UG, PG, and PhD degrees. Selection criteria for each course includes national-level exam scores and counselling process. For the BTech program, JEE Advanced score and JoSAA counselling are required. For the BDes and MDes programs, UCEED and CEED exam scores are considered. MTech & MSc program, GATE and IIT JAM exam scores are accepted. Given below are the details of IIT Hyderabad major courses:

IIT Hyderabad BTech

IIT Hyderabad BTech program is ranked at 8 by the NIRF 2021. The institute does not reserve seats for the BTech program under the female quota. Also, the institute has now discontinued the branch change option for the BTech program. The faculty-to-student ratio at IIT Hyderabad is 1:14. IIT Hyderabad offers 2-year, 3-year, Online MTech degrees. The program is available for regular, sponsored, and working professionals. For the 2-year BTech program, candidates are required to score 529 to 789 in the GATE exam. Candidates without GATE score can are also eligible for direct admission. The students of IIT Hyderabad are awarded various scholarships by the institute as well as from international institutions.

MCM Scholarship:

-10% of the students are proposed for grant of awards

-The other economically backward students (whose family income is between INR 1-5 LPA) who avail 2/3rd remission of the tuition fee will be eligible for 1/3rd reimbursement of tuition fee per semester + pocket money of INR 1000  per month.

Institute SC/ST Scholarship:

-Free messing and boarding (to the extent collected) and pocket money of INR 250 per month is being given
