IIT Gandhinagar is a second-generation IIT established by MHRD, Govt. of India. The institute offers more than 50 courses in Engineering, Mathematics, Cognitive Science, Humanities, and Social Sciences. These courses are imparted through 7 centres and 13 departments. IIT Gandhinagar organizes a 5 week foundation program for all new undergraduate students. The foundation program is awarded the World Education Award 2013 by the World Education Summit. Out of the 50 courses, the flagship program of the institute is BTech. Candidates seeking admission to the program require a JEE Advanced rank of 1230-9076. The total fee for a 4 year BTech program is INR 8.71 Lacs. For the BTech admission 2022, NTA has released JEE Main 2022 exam dates. Registration for the exam is open till March 31, 2022 for the April session. The examination will be conducted in two phases i.e. in April and May of 2022. The Phase-I of the JEE Main 2022 exam will be held from April 21 – May 04, 2022, and Phase-II from May 24-29, 2022. Another major program of the institute is MTech. Admission to the program is based on the GATE exam. IIT Gandhinagar cutoff for the MTech program is 369-655 GATE rank. The total fee for the 2 year MTech program is INR 4 Lakhs. Recently, GATE 2022 results along with GATE 2022 cut off marks and GATE 2022 toppers list have been announced. IIT Gandhinagar is the first IIT to provide cognitive science programs in India. Cognitive Science is an interdisciplinary scientific investigation of the mind and intelligence. The institute offers MSc, PhD, and minor programs in this discipline. Admission to the programs are based on entrance exams conducted by the institute. Students admitted to IIT Gandhinagar MSc cognitive science are allowed to work for a maximum of 10 hours per week during the semester and 40 hours per week during the vacations. IIT Gandhinagar also encourages students by offering travel scholarships upto INR 60,000 to present their research work at National and international conferences. Also, IIT Gandhinagar has seen tremendous growth in the placement process. The institute witnessed a 60% increase in the PPOs for the current year. Similarly, job offers accepted by the students increased by 30%, and the percentage of students who got placed this year is 50% more than the previous year.
IIT Gandhinagar MTech
IIT Gandhinagar offers a two-year MTech program across 8 specialisations. The institute offers admission to the MTech program via GATE scores and the COAP counselling process. To get admission, the interested candidates must have a GATE score between 500-750. Also, a fee of INR 1.64 lakhs is charged by the institute for its MTech program. There are three different categories of M.Tech courses offered at IITGN:
- M.Tech (regular): 2 years
- Work and Study MTech: 3 years
IIT Gandhinagar also offers the option of a one-year post-graduate diploma in engineering (PGDIIT) to its MTech students with no thesis requirements. Additionally, the institute offers a work and study MTech program. This program will further allow students to engage with sophisticated equipment, laboratories, and research facilities while doing MTech at IIT Gandhinagar. IIT Gandhinagar Scholarships 2022
IIT Gandhinagar students have access to a variety of scholarships and financial aid. These schemes are offered by the government, donors/alumni, or the institution itself. Some of the popular scholarship schemes among IITGN students are mentioned below.
Tuition Fee Waiver for Undergraduate Students: IIT Gandhinagar offers tuition fee waivers to its students.
Students whose family income is less than INR 1,00,000 shall get full remission of the tuition fee.
Students whose family income is between INR 1 lakh to 5 lakh shall get remission of 2/3rd of the tuition fee.
Students whose family income ranges between INR 1 lakh and INR 2.5 lakh will be paid back the remaining 1/3rd tuition fee.
Under the Vidyalaxmi scheme, students whose family income is less than INR 9,00,000 per annum can access interest-free loans to cover the entire tuition fee.
Free Basic Messing Assistance: The Institute offers free basic messing and a pocket allowance to SC/ST students at B.Tech and M.Sc programs with an annual family income not exceeding INR 4,50,000. The eligible students will receive the following benefits under this scheme.

Scholarship for Academic Excellence: IITGN students with the highest CPI in their respective disciplines are rewarded with INR 2000 per month for ten consecutive months. However, if the awardee has also been awarded a scholarship of equal or higher value, they can only receive INR 5000 as a one-time receipt.
Scholarship for Excellence in Sports and Games: A total of six scholarships are awarded each year to encourage excellence in sports and games. Students in the second, third, and fourth years of their UG program can apply and receive INR 2,000 a month for ten months. However, if the awardee is also the recipient of any other scholarship of equal or higher value, then he/she will only be eligible for INR 5000 as a one-time award.

IIT Gandhinagar Financial Aid Program
IIT Gandhinagar is a part of ‘TATA Motors Limited- Financial Aid Program (TML-FAP)’. The program provides financial assistance to UG students for a certain period of time. Under this program, TATA Motors Limited (TML) provides funds for tuition fees and other necessary payments for 4 years. Per year, about 5 students avail of the fund making the total number of students benefiting from this MoU to 20 over four years.
Who is eligible for the TML-FAP?
Candidates with less family income scoring a minimum CPI of 6.0 in their previous semester are eligible for the program. The family income is calculated as follows:
Students from non metro cities whose family income is less than INR 6.5 LPA.
Students from metro cities whose family income is less than INR 7.5 LPA.
About the program: TML-FAP is a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IIT Gandhinagar, TATA Motors, and IIT Bombay Alumni Association (IITBAA). The program provides immediate financial support to students. Students benefited from the program are required to donate the money back to the institution when they are financially independent. The money donated is used back for the next batch of UG students.
IIT Gandhinagar Facilities
The University offers a plethora of facilities that cater to the needs of students as well as the faculties.
Hostels: IITG has eight centrally air-conditioned hostels that are maintained by student committees. These hostels have a number of conveniences and facilities which include eateries, laundry facilities, student lounge, music room, sports room, and convenience stores. Mess and Canteens: IITG is the only academic institution to be declared as ‘Eat Right Campus by the FSSAI. All the canteens and eateries on the campus have been given a 5-star rating by the Food Corporation. This includes the special tea store that serves a variety of hot and cold beverages, the AMUL store specializing in dairy products, Nutririch which caters to a variety of juices and milkshakes, and all the grocery stores on the campus.
Clubs: To promote extracurricular activities amongst students, they are encouraged to join cultural clubs that organize different events such as Photography club, Drama club, Dance club, Music club, literary club, Technology clubs, and Film Making club.
Medical facilities: Qualified medical professionals, trained nurses, and physiotherapists are available at the Medical Centre of the campus. The availability of medical supplies and services are maintained throughout the year.
Sports facilities: IITG encourages its students to maintain a healthy fitness regime and has various sports facilities which include a badminton court, tennis court, basketball court, football and cricket grounds, and a fully-equipped gymnasium.

Indian Institute of Gandhinagar has a diverse and highly-qualified faculty of 172 members, out of which 164 faculty members are PhD holders from distinguished universities such as IIT Delhi, Tokyo University, Michigan University, IIT Kanpur, and several others.
