Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) is a government state university, established in the year 1969 in the name of Guru Nanak Ji on his 500th birthday, GNDU has achieved ‘Grade A’ accreditation from NAAC. The university is UGC approved & is ranked at 80th position in the overall category by NIRF 2022. The learning center boasts 43 teaching Departments at the Campus, two regional campuses, and 170 affiliated and constituent colleges..

GNDU imparts education in several courses at UG, PG and Reserach level. One of the popular courses is GNDU Ph.D., to take admission in the research-based domain students need to appear in the entrance test that is conducted by the university itself. The university has a Centre of Emerging Life Sciences equipped with modern scientific instruments.
A well-equipped modern computer lab has been established with the help of TCS to strengthen the infrastructure and to prepare students for employment.

GNDU Application Process 2021
Guru Nanak Dev University admissions are made both on a merit and entrance basis. The university’s departments conduct entrance tests individually for the selection process. The below steps will guide students about the application process: 

Visit the official website of GNDU and open the admission portal.
Click on “Campus Admissions 2020-2021”.
Candidates are required to generate a login ID & password upon entering basic details, a unique login ID, and a password. A message will be sent to the registered mobile number/e-mail ID of the applicant. 
Online registration can be made by filling in the necessary information in the form and payment of a non-refundable registration fee for each course for which admission is sought. The university charges the registration fee of INR 1300 (for the General Category) and (INR 650 for SC/ST Category for Punjab Domicile only) for each course paid through any branch of HDFC Bank or through online mode (Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking) following the instructions during registration. For B.Tech. (based on JEE)/B.Arch. (based on NATA score) courses, a one-time registration fee of INR 2200 will be charged.

GNDU Placement
The placement statistics of GNDU are quite lucrative. Top-notch companies offer recruitment to eligible & deserving students. GNDU, Amritsar every year arranges placement drives in which giant firms participate and recruit the aspirants. A fair number of students get placed in renowned companies in the year 2021.

GNDU Scholarship
GNDU provides scholarships to meritorious; disabled/blind and economically weak students. There are Post Matric Scholarships(SC/OBC), National Scholarships(PMS for minorities, Merit-cum-means scholarship for professional & technical courses, Central Sector scheme of scholarships provided for college and University students, State Merit Scholarships are also one of the offered ones. GNDU Facilities
Library: GNDU has a library named Bhai Gurdas Library that includes a monstrous collection of books, periodicals, e-journals, manuscripts, etc. The library is a member of DELNET. The library has its own computer section, own webpage, together with these the university has prepared Databases of books in English, Hindi, and Punjabi Languages. The library has a subscription of 87 Foreign and 146 Indian Journals.
Hostel: At the university campus there are a total number of 7 hostels for both girls & boys students, 3 hostels for boys’ & 4 hostels for the girls’ students. Apart from these the university provides accommodation facilities for the regional campuses too. Sports: The Department of Physical Education (Allied Teaching) arranges games and sports in the affiliated colleges of GNDU. The department has gained national recognition because of its hi-tech sports facilities and excellent achievements at the inter-university, national and international levels competitions. It organizes special training camps and inter-college tournaments with 60 to 65 men and women events and participates in inter-university tournaments in 40 to 45 games that include more than 6000 students. Spread over a sprawling vast sports complex houses an international quality Astro-turf Hockey stadium, an Olympic standard swimming pool stadium, with separate facilities for training, diving, and competition, and playgrounds for the sports like football, cricket, lawn tennis, basketball, volleyball, handball, softball, kho-kho, and kabaddi, etc.

Guru Nanak Dev University was established in 1969 to mark the 500th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It is spread over 500 acres towards the west of Amritsar, Punjab. GNDU has 35 academic departments at the University Campus and 148 affiliated colleges and 71 Associate Institutes.

GNDU offers a number of courses in various fields such as Science, Arts, Management, Information Technology, Industrial Technology, Environment, Planning and Architecture. 

Admissions to B.Tech courses are done on merit in Entrance Test/JEE Main
Admissions to M.Tech courses are done on the basis of GATE scores or merit in Entrance Test conducted by University.
Admissions to MBA are based on the merit in the Entrance Test.
Admission to B.Arch. is based on the combined merit of valid NATA score and qualifying examination in the ratio of 50:50.
Admissions to M.Phil/Ph.D courses are based on the merit in the Entrance Test conducted by the university.
Admission to open & Distance Learning courses is done on the basis of merit of the last qualifying examination

The University is also accredited A++ with 3.51 CGPA out of 4-point scale by NAAC. According to a recent survey conducted by India Today, GNDU ranks 16 among top 50 universities of the country. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 with PCM & English and secured at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) in aggregate.
  • For admission to B.Tech(Lateral Entry) courses, candidates must have passed two years Diploma after 10+2- or three-years Diploma after matriculation examination in the relevant subject (Computer Science & Engineering/Computer Engineering/ Information Technology) from a State Technical Board.

Selection Criteria

  • Admissions to all other specializations except Computer Engineering/Textile Processing Technology will be made on the basis of AIR in JEE Main.
  • Admissions to B.Tech Computer Engineering/Textile Processing Technology will be made on the basis of performance in the Entrance Test to be conducted by the University.
  • Counselling will be held at GNDU Campus by the Coordinator.

    Candidates can apply for admissions to their respective courses by following the stepwise procedure mentioned below:

    Candidates need to visit the website and fill the registration form.
    Candidates need to fill all the details and upload photographs & signatures in JPG/JPEG format.
    Now, enter the password for the account and click on ‘Register’.
    Post successful registration, an email is sent to registered email using which candidates can login into their account.
    After signing into account, candidates need to click on ‘Course Registration’ and fill the registration form.
    Candidates must carefully select the category to which they belong because once submitted, the category is not allowed to change.
    Candidates can pay the application fee either in offline mode via HDFC bank or university cash counter, or in online mode at the portal.
    After fee payment, candidates need to fill the admission form before the last date.

GNDU Scholarship

GNDU provides scholarships to meritorious; disabled/blind and economically weak students. There are Post Matric Scholarships(SC/OBC), National Scholarships(PMS for minorities, Merit-cum-means scholarship for professional & technical courses, Central Sector scheme of scholarships provided for college and University students, State Merit Scholarships are also one of the offered ones.
