National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA) was established by the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009 (Act No. XXV of 2009) as the 14 National Law University established in the country and is located in Guwahati, the capital city of Assam. This Act was later amended the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (Amendment) Act, 2011 (Act 2 of 2012), wherein the word ‘School’ was replaced by the word ‘University’. The objectives of the National Law University, Assam are to impart comprehensive legal education and training at all levels to achieve excellence in the legal education; to promote research in all branches of law; to disseminate legal knowledge by organizing lectures, seminars, symposia, workshops, and conferences on contemporary issues of law to promote legal awareness in the communities to achieve social and economic justice and to promote cultural, legal and ethical values with a view to promote and foster the rule of law and the objectives enshrined in the Constitution of India; and to liaise with institutions of higher learning and research in India and abroad.
NLU Assam Course Structure:
It offers the B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) Five Year Integrated Courses in which the Social Sciences subjects are integrated with the Law subjects. It follows the Semester System. It also offers the One-Year Postgraduate Course (LL.M.) with specialization in different groups. The Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court is the Chancellor of this University.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate (45% marks in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities).
Candidate should be below 20 years of age as on 1st July 2016.
Admission Procedure:
The admission shall exclusively be based on the performance of the candidate in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
NLU Assam Placement:
As a part of the academic program and in order to provide the students with the opportunity to observe and understand the social realities and challenges, the University encourages students to undergo internship during the semester break of June - July and December - January every year.

NLUJAA admission 2023 is open for UG and PG courses. Candidates applying for admission must appear for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). The last date to apply for CLAT 2023 is November 13, 2022. Application forms can be filled on the official website @consortiumofnlus.ac.in/clat-2023. CLAT 2023 exam will be held on December 18, 2022.
National Law University & Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA) is one of the well-known autonomous law schools in the State. NLUJAA is committed to implementing innovative approaches in both the fields of legal education and research. The institution provides B.A., LL.B. as a five-year integrated course and LL.M. as a one-year degree programme. The University also offers Ph.D in law.
Admissions to NLUJAA are through competitive entrance examinations followed by the Counselling Session organised by the concerned entrance examination. For B.A., LL.B. and LL.M., the candidates must clear the CLAT.
In the case of the Ph.D. programme, the candidate must appear for the entrance examination conducted by the University. The candidates may also have to attend an Interview after clearing the entrance test. It should be noted that candidates with certain qualifications may be exempted from the entrance test.
NLU Assam B.A. LL.B. Admission 2023
NLUJAA B.A., LL.B. is an integrated course that spans over five years. The intake capacity for the programme is 60 seats per year. For admission into this programme, the candidate must pass 10+2 or equivalent with at least 50% marks.
The candidates must clear the CLAT to be eligible for the admission. Applicants who are appearing for their qualifying examination could also apply and appear for the test, provided they pass the concerned examination and produce the proof of results at the time of admission.
NLU Assam LL.M. Admission 2023
NLUJAA LL.M. is a one-year degree programme. The students are given a choice to pursue a General LL.M. or a specialised degree. For pursuing a specialised LL.M., the student must opt for minimum four electives out of the six in their preferred specialisation to secure an LL.M. in the concerned specialisation. The total intake capacity of the programme is 10 seats per year.
For admission into this programme, the candidates must pass either a 3-year or a 5-year integrated LL.B. degree with a minimum of 55% marks. The candidate must also clear the CLAT . entrance examination to be considered eligible. Candidates who are appearing for, or awaiting the results of the qualifying examination could appear for the entrance test if they submit the proof of results at the time of counselling.
